It really doesn’t get much better than this. Harsh contacted me on Monday, planning to propose Friday. Nikhita didn’t know it yet, but he was planning a surprise road trip from LA to Big Sur, and would ask her to marry him during this trip. We planned, coordinated, and rushed through every possible scenario to ensure everything would go off without a hitch. They were visiting around their one year anniversary, and Nikhita has always wanted to get professional photos of them, so Harsh opted for the proposal and session afterward.
The weekend came, and Harsh took Nikhita out for lunch in Malibu. After lunch, Nikhita was working in the car, and didn’t even notice they weren’t headed back home. Harsh had packed her bags without her knowing, and headed north. About 2 hours into their drive, Nikhita finally realized they weren’t headed home! Harsh told her they were going on a weekend trip, and late Thursday they arrived in beautiful Big Sur. The next day, he convinced her to get dressed up so they could get nice cell phone photos and selfies while they explored the coast. She even told Harsh that the dress she was wearing was the one she wanted to wear when they finally had their professional photos done!
Austin and I were in position, and saw them coming down the stairs. As they passed me (pretending to be a tourist) Nikhita actually comes up to me, asks if I’d take their photo with his cell phone, and asks if I’m a professional. I have no idea how I kept my cool, I’m pretty sure Austin was freaking out from across the park, and Harsh was probably pretty nervous as well. I laughed and said I’m more of a hobbyist, and that I’d love to take their photo. I’m honestly surprised it wasn’t blurry from how much I was shaking! We thought our cover was blown! Still freaking out, I mentioned they should continue up the trail and that there was a point ahead (the point Harsh + I had identified as the perfect spot) that they should check out. She totally went along with it!
I followed them up a bit, and waited for the magic to happen.
After he asked her to marry him, all we could hear was the sweetest screams of excitement and pure bliss! Followed by “why are they taking photos of us!?” We all laughed and shared the details leading up to that perfect moment, and explored the park for the remainder of their session. It was perfection, beyond belief & you can believe I’ll be sharing a million of their photos.
